Nordic Blue: I loved the shapes of the ice and the curves of the glacier in this Icelandic composition. Here we see the process of large ice formations breaking off Vatnajökulland glacier to float in Jökulsárlón (a glacier lagoon) before being pulled out to sea.
High Country: The high alpine of Southern Colorado's scenic San Juan mountains is the type of place that feels untouched by the hand of mankind. Just the way I like it. The sun was setting as the clouds whipped in, and in an instant, these rugged peaks were gone.
Fjord Wall: Pictured here a rock wall on the side of Tracy Arm fjord in Alaska (roughly 50 miles south of Juneau). Tracy Arm is the heart of the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness, which consists of two narrow fjords: Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm. Both fjords are over 30 miles (48 km) long and during the summer, the fjords have considerable floating ice ranging from hand-sized to pieces as large as a three-story building. I was drawn to the incredible range and tonality of colors on this fjord wall. The glacier blue water, and distinct tide line colors caught my eye.
California Coast: I was attracted to these odd geological layered formations, which produced leading lines heading west and out into to the Pacific ocean. The image is from Montaña de Oro ("Mountain of Gold" in Spanish) state park in California, United States. The park is located six miles southwest of Morro Bay and 2 miles south of Los Osos. The name "Mountain of Gold" comes from the golden wildflowers found in the park.
Squam Skyline: Far away from the hustle and bustle of city life another form of skyline awakens on Squam Lake in the mountains of NH. The cry of nesting eagles to the West and the call of a lonely loon keep me company as I watch the beginning of another day.
